1. Do you take trades in the opposite direction of the 1 hr CCI? ( i.e. if it's negative would you take a long).
2. On the 1 Hr CCI what do the green and red squares that hug the zero line mean?

Hi Cl,

The RSi-s are the mainstay of my decision; followed by the position of the 28-EMA.

The CCi-5 is there to tell me when NOT to trade. Usually you will find that the CCi-5 is above zero-line while the Trend-line has not been broken yet and if that is what you mean, then "yes" I do.

The RED_Squares are in fact the LSMA built into the CCi by one clever gent called Linuxer. I asked him for this particular indicator and he has since released other versions of it as well, but this one is the one I prefer without going into details for that.

As a rule, I do NOT trade against the H1-chart. Period. Rather miss a trade.

Best wishes.

Clear and concise. Thanks a lot. One more question. Forgive my ignorance, i have never used LSMA but have heard of it. Can you point me in the direction of some info on it ( or briefly tell me what it tries to do).

Best,

cl

The CCI-5 overheat

Hi Valeo

Please forgive me as I am sure you have probably discussed this many times! I would really appreciate it if you could explain how to handle the CCI-5 overheat situation - such as the one outlined in the attached 5 min chart below.

Too often I am uncertain how to handles these occurances and so simply leave the trade alone and then watch it fall and fall...

Would appreciate your advice here please or kindly point me to a place where I can do the reading from prior explanations.

Many thanks
Shaun

Go to page 72 of this thread and locate post #719 by Big Joe. If you follow the instructions provided with the indicator (see link) you should have no problems.

There is quite a lot of information on the use of the LSMA on this Forum. Just search for it, but be warned, it is another "massive" topic to work through.

Good luck.

Shaun's question......

Hi Shaun, I was looking for you today, but you were off-line. Sorry.

That long white candle was an announcement from USD and way above what was generally expected. I just wait for the "noise" to disappear and then make the decision to trade. What added to my "problem" was the fact that I had the previous Lo. also at the close of that candle. So it had to break that Lo. first and took the short @ 14h35 with a price of 1.9784. Exit on overheating RSi-4 for ア20 pips and if you followed the 8-EMA rule, close on 30.

Entry after that @ 16h35 @ 1.9854 for another +24 pips exiting on the close of the 16h35 candle.

Hope that helps, otherwise talk to me tomorrow.

Best wishes.

1st trade today

So far 1 trade for me this morning.

Entered off the 5 min chart at close of 8:30 candle (GMT+2). I was a little wary because price was hovering around the 28-EMA on the 1 hour chart at this level (1.9815).

Moved stop to BE when trade was +12 and after price moved against me I made +1.

Valeo I have marked a possible exit where I could have made +8 or so .... would that have been an acceptable exit? The H1 CCI-5 had also overheated at this stage...

Would appreciate your input.

Thanks
Shaun
