Thanks El Cid. Yes, for me as intraday trader, I have no problem with money management, but one would like to see the EA being successful as well. However, we have corresponded in private and I will be in touch as promised. Thank you for your assistance in advance.

Best wishes.

CCI-5 performance...........

I took the standard CCI as found under the Custom indicators and set it up on the 5M-chart as per the XO-Method of trading. I wanted to see how many times it "overheated" since 19 September 2007 until today - I will update this post on Thursday so that we have records over 8,928 candles.

The first thing I wanted to test was the CCI-5 itself and I found that it "overheated" (that is, it reached a level of ア160) 344 times up till today lunch time.

Next I wanted to see how many times this "overheating" that stop me from entering on the close of the candle that overheats, was a WRONG SIGNAL. It were "wrong" 28 times (8,3%) and therefore the set-up was CORRECT in 91,7% of cases. (So, if you obeyed the signal and did not enter, the rest of the time you would have been correct in 91,7% of trades not to have taken that entry). The pips generated by these so called "wrong entries" varied between +2 to +56 pips, but don't despair it gets better.

What is VERY important to understand is that when you have an "overheating" situation on the 5M candle, pay immediate attention to the very next candle. In 91,7% of cases the very next candle is going in the opposite direction to the current direction!! However having said that, keep a hawk's eye on the level of the CCI-5 as it drops below the ア100-level (this is the level to me where the direction "resets" itself) and if the next candle (2nd after the overheated one) then turns back in the direction of the "overheated" candle, it means that the trade is valid and you may enter. (Example attached)

IF however the 2nd candle continues to go in the opposite direction (it will either go sideways or against the "overheated" candle) it will do so in 91,7% of cases. Watch it carefully and you will have an opportunity to get a better price in most instances or at least a more "secure" entry later. (Patience is the name of the game)

Next I wanted to see how the CCI-13 behaved (levels @ 249) and I discovered that during the same time, the CCI-13 "overheated" only 20 times and only 3 of those were given incorrectly (+85% accurate). Pips varied between 20, 40 & 54.

Finally, as I am an ardent RSI-fan, I added my RSI-strategy to the scenario I have just described to you.

The number of times that the RSI-5 and the CCI-5 "overheated" SIMULTANEOUSLY, were 17. (Seventeen times) and NOT ONCE was the signal INCORRECT!! This is significant!!

Just a last observation:.........I also added the MTF_CCI-5 set @ H1 TF and what is very good to see, is that when this indicator "overheats" @ levels 160 you can start counting 12 candles which makes up the hourly candle and if you are in the trade, you exit on the 11th candle as the last one usually retraces somewhat.

Looking forward to hearing your comments.

Best wishes, always.

hello ValeoFX, thanks for all your work -- and others -- with the XO_Method

my problem: installed the indicators and ZZ 4 TF XO displayed correctly, but
the next time I started MT and opened a new chart, that indicator wouldn't
display, although a window did appear below the chart; tried a new install of
the indicator but nothing

would you please tell me what the problem might be and how to solve it. tia

Ace, I am also stunned. Is the "driver" plain XO loaded? It should be otherwise it would not have loaded in the first place. However, please chack it out again and let me know. Otherwise PM me with the list of indicators that you have loaded so that I can make a quick decision as to what may have gone wrong.

Best wishes.

aah-HAAAAAA !!!

thank you ValeoFX for responding so quickly and fixing my problem

I've been trying a lot of indicators and realize now I should have been writing
down my testing results then emptying the indicators folder before moving
onto another test; instead I was keeping some indicators and deleting others
in an attempt to limit the quantity of indicators in the folder, which is why the
XO indicator was deleted without my knowing it's purpose

this has also made me realize the value of templates which I've never used
before -- keep ALL the indicators in the indicator folder and create templates
with the desired indicators

Suggestion to Ace.........

Ace, what I do is to go to Profiles in MT4 where I delete all the profiles except the Default one. The Templates that you have on the MT4, will all sit here. I suggest you also copy them and keep them seperate in case you need to reload MT4 you can just copy and paste them back in again and the new MT4 opens up with your last Templates.

Glad you sorted your problem.

Best wishes.

Rsi

ValeoFX - We all sincerely appreciate your research on the CCI and RSI. Work like this serves to increase our confidence with XO entrys. Please keep up the excellent work. The November issue of Technical Analysis of Stocks & Commodities contains a very nice article; "Does The RSI Give You An Edge" that discusses period length. I am sending a copy to you via PM.
Best regards,
Joe SDF

Thank you very much for your kind words, Joe. I do appreciate it very much. Also a great thank you for the article by Larry Connors & Ashton Dorkins. This made me sit up and guess what, if you put the RSI-2 in the window first and you then put an RSI-5 over it, you will have one of THE most impressive combinations that I have personally seen. Especially on the H1, H4 and Day charts.

These 2 gentlemen gets mentioned in my 2nd Post of this Thread and I am really in debted to them for making their research available to us all.

Once you have tried their recommendations out, you will NOT look back. Just go and see how effective it is.

Best wishes.
