The displaced MAs seem to work well, even on short time frames, for keeping one out of the slop-chop.

I use these along with several other indicators, agreed they seem to work well for trends.

Combining this with ergodic and Ichimoku paint bar (aka trend manager), there seem to be good opportunities in all time frames. The ergodic does remarkable job on the attached charts as leading indicator.
