I dont agree..even if backtest is not 100% reliable it gives you a good idea on how the expert would behave in difficult situations. Then you can analyze the worst case one by one and check whether the trades shown by the backtest were indeed taken following the rules of your expert...

If there is no backtest, then forward test during 2 or 3 years may be necessary to cover all type of markets, and be sure that the experts covers them all.

Especially the PID is working fine during ranging market, but what would happen in case of very strong trending market without any retracement, as we had for euro sooner this year?

I dont understand your point..oyu dont need to bactest a basket of currency..just each pairs, one by one..

Before going live...you d better wait how the demo accounts behaves when we get a 500 pip move without any retracement on one of the pairs...then only we will know how safe si the expert...

or wait until the owner of the expert start trading a 50000 usd live account ...not only demo...

Well about that live account, mine is now almost at 4500 so pretty close I guess. And about a 500 pip move...this is a basket trader. Do you mean 500 pip all over the 12 pairs or on each pair each. As for the last option: show me in history where did that happen on 12 pairs at the time and for the first: if you think that way, no ea or tradingsystem can be used ever I guess. A DD will always be the case. One has to use good money management always.

First of all I need to say that I totally agree with you that backtesting is essential.

However it's very hard to backtest a multipair EA if the trades are dependant of each other **. For example I would like to have situation where only 10% of my account can be affected any time. If the testing is not done with all currencies at the same time, I can never know how big my exposure really is at given time **.

**) Unless you simulate trades on other currencies, that's what I do but it's pain in the ass because you have to do the same work as the MT would do manualy.

Been demo trading with PID since the beginning of the week with 50K. So far, up about $4.5K in closed trades and -$1K in open trades. What I don't understand about this EA is why it usually enters trades against the trend. For example, yesterday and today, it has been entering sell orders on EURUSD while the pair has been trending up and increasing the lot size with each trade.As it is, with out any stops or trailing stops incorporated in the EA and esp. because it enters trades against the trend, I would not trade this with a live account.

that s my point..we were in a long sequence on the gbp..closed because the gbp had good move up today...what would have happened it the gbp had dropped to 1.85 without any retracement....expert would have taken position up to level 50 or even more...? and dont mentiont hat it cannot happen..it has happen in the past..and much more than 1000 pips for the gbp...

I'm slightly confused as to why this is being labeled a basket trader - not saying it isn't, just that the demo (which seems to have expired, as it no longer works) was perfectly happy with just the one pair. And as I posted previously, this resulted in margin calls for every major apart form EU. Interesting to hear that the commercial product apparently trades without stops...

Well guys, this is the last I want to contribute, for I do not have any connection to the selling of this ea. It is a baskettrader, and I trade it live. Anyone that tells different have not traded this ea the right way demo or live.
If live, then one only has to follow the info that comes with the ea, where one can read which pairs to trade. This ea has no stops? It has, but it is hardcoded. It also has equityprotection and marginprotection and and and. Places trades against the trend? Where have you guys been lately? Carrytrades, ever heard of?
So I as I stated before, some people do not see the pot of gold if sitting on it.
