There are a few post here and in other boards that the Starter EA have been losing money in forward live account. This made me wonder a bit as to why they lost money. I contacted my brother, which is running the same Starter that I was and he confirmed that he lost money last week. I myself did not lose any money last week. I had a one day lost of –$40 but overall I made almost 1k from last week using the Starter v6 EA in live forward demo account.

The only reason I came up with is that there are so many different versions of the Laguerre.mq4 that people try to “improve” on might be the main cause. They might even have downloaded and use a “fixed/improve” version of v6. The lack of documentation of newer version from so many would be programmers that tries to improve on the original version might have a hug negative effect. Even if a small correction or just make the code look neater might do major damage on how the Indicator or EA work.

To me this kind of improvements that was not from the original programmer is worry some. Some would be programmer that has very little experience in programming try to “improve” or “fix” the original script and instead of putting a different name like “Improve EA Name by NewProgrammerNameX” they just use the same name giving a false impression that the script was unmodified. To me this is a very serious problem and to not get burn on it, people need to test the EA for more then a few weeks in forward live demo testing in order to see if the EA is for your interest before going live with it.

I have attached v6 of Starter EA and Laguerre indicator that is using for my demo account testing. This is the exact copy from the live demo testing account. Nothing has change. It has given good result and I hope it will do the same for you guys/girls.

No it's not laguerre.mq4 that is the reason of the different results.
Starter V6 already has laguerre indicator hard-coded into the EA. It doesn't call the icustom function (or whatever they call it).

Starter V4 (not the mod or edit version) needs laguerre.mq4 in the indicator folder for it to work properly.

Hey, don't take my word for it, just look at the codes.

The reason I came up is different brokers give different results for this EA.
For example I had starterV6 on 2 different PC on 3 different brokers,same Chart setup,same EA file but at the end I had different results.

The worst is that sometimes the same broker give different results too (but by not that much). I saw in another forum one coder complaning about this and blaiming this on MT4...it's just has some bugs that need to be sorted out.

could you guys post the brokers you`ve used that worked for v4 and v6 profitably?

Alpari is good for starter V6.

Others have some luck with IBFX but I have encountered too many problems with them to have any good things to say.

thanks sadaloma, and for v4 any suggestions? do you also put to work the experts during holidays or not, like on friday for v4 in alpari, i started the forward test on friday without noticing it was holiday and it started with 2 big losses of -50 pips each.?

As for starterv4, I am still not sure if it's profitable in the long run. I was up 1600$ on the 8th but since then it's been down hill.

I am still testing it on Alpari and by next week I will update my statements.

last night was good for starter V6 i have only some doubts, in alpari the take profit of +10 in usdgbp appears always taking $70dlls instead of $100 which in strategy builder the $100 appears, wanted to ask you if you still keep the stop (which is the second stop in the 5 setting) or you only put the v6 in default with take profit of 10?, anyway so far V6 performs better than V4.
Also would like to ask if the only way to apply an expert live is by using metatrader as broker?
