here is a thought that might work quite well here. why not set up a feedback system just like ebay uses.. when you receive a good product from a programmer leave a good feedback and when your product doesnt do what you would hope it would do... leave a negative feedback. Also the programmer has the oppurtunity to reply to any feedback that is given. This would create an open discussion and let the people know which are good programmers and which are bad. It would just give a general idea as to how a programmer is doing.. just my two cents
I will post here some most annoying cases, so other programmers could see and avoid such clients.
I know, they can change names/emails/etc, but I'll post as much info as I have, so that changing identity would not be so easy for them.
Keep posting their names. This list is good as it avoids people working for thieves and warns coders before hand
I had the same guy approach me and I forwarded his name to another coder.I warned the coder it was his responsibility to about taking payments upfront.
Mick mick@efex.co.uk from UK IP 88-111-107-46.dynamic.dsl.as9105.com [88.111.107.46]
after getting EA and seeing it is not profitable haven't paid
Tom Sarkakis <forex4capital@yahoo.ca> 65.92.244.167, lives in Canada, but is russian, other name (possibly real one) is Dmitriy
after getting mql4 script for scalping and seeing it doesn't make money haven't paid
Yoshia Kim yosh@imag.net d142-179-250-91.abhsia.telus.net [142.179.250.91]
"forgot" to pay 2nd part of payment after getting the code for 2 EAs
rude boy rudelondon@hotmail.co.uk 172.203.107.91 (also known under other name, but can't find now which exactly)
haven't paid 2nd part of payment after getting the code for 2 EAs
stay away from them.
on each name i can provide copies of emails, if anyone have doubts of my words.
i ask other programmers to post detailes of non-paying clients, so we all be aware
Why don't you use any escrow service? It guarantees you will receive your payment after the work is done. I am a programmer myself and also experienced bad clients. Now I am a bit selective about clients, prefer talking with them before taking the job. I usually give to a new client a choice to pay with escrow service 15% more (it's a commission of rent-a-coder), but after the work is done or prepay 100%. If the system is quite complex (several thousand $) I make a timetable with work milestones and payments. Would be interesting if you and other coders here share their thoughts about how to protect our work.
There have been instances where I sent my strategies to coders and they never replied back, Wookey being one of them. I've made several attempts to contact him and he still won't reply back to me. He's the second person to do it. Just stopped replying. Maybe once I share strategy w/ them, they find it to be profitable and run w/ it. So it works on both sides of the coin. Maybe you clients have some thoughts as to how to protect our work........
I've found one coder who is real, prompt, and does good work. They supposedly played a pivotal role in the development of the Auto-Chartist software that IBFX offers to clients w/ real accts (if I'm not mistaken, which I might be). They have real phone numbers, real addresses and you use Skype as well to discuss w/ them real-time anything needed.
I think it best to present your idea to the coder with "open architecture" in mind.
If you are paying him, you do not need to convince him the method is profitable...so you can withold the profitable set file from him.
Make many input variables to confuse the issue...

As you are trying to offend me, you need to clarify:
1. That I never took your money and never comitted to code for you.
2. You didn't give me any system to develop, you only asked to correct jurik smoothed indicators, which you never even sent to me, only gave names.
This thread is not for offending all coders who didn't want to work for you. I programmed for many traders from this community if they are not satisfied let them speak.
