hi have u guys tried TradeBullet ? its a bridge b/t MT4 and IB.

Ninjatrader is compatible with IB or MBT. why bother with MT4.

On hedging: i side with El_cid. Hedging on the same pair is obviously a ploy to make the broker richer, and also could mean that it is to continue holding onto losing trades.

on the bright side, a position, that seems about to tank, but ur up couple thousand pips, might not be bad idea to hedge, but certainly the type of hedging offered throug MT4 is not good. just buy some options through a real broker.

If you were averaging into a position unsuccessfully and there was an upcoming news event that could tip your account over the edge, you would be very happy that you could hedge your open positions until the 'storm had passed' - at least I would. Same-position hedging in equities is in fact illegal, as far as I'm aware, which is why you do not see it outside forex. But to say that hedging has no place in trading is silly - it is a valid way of offsetting risk...

btw el cid/oilfx was (also) wrong about being able to hedge with InteractiveBrokers using a sub. accounts. I contacted them and they confirmed that each sub. account is treated as a separate entity.

yes try a bridge

Ninja trader gets data from IB, and is free.
Should be able to interface Ninja from MT4.
Not sure how to do it, they document Tradestation- but perhaps similar to this method.
Interaction between MetaTrader 4 and Matlab via CSV Files - MQL4 Articles

Only real issue is (probably only) that the signals are coming off data that is not IB. Very messy, you take a trade off off a spike and you are not filled because market is nowhere near that.

Dont give up on an IB feed.
Since there is some architecture -> "remotedataserver at broker" ->"localdataserverproxy" ->"MT4internaldatacollectionenginethatservicesth e chart" , it should be possible to configure to use the "localdataserverproxy" (see MT4 additional installs available), and listen to data coming into that to find which port and what format and what to and fro messages are sent.

Or listen to the traffic between the "localdataserverproxy" and "MT4internaldatacollectionenginethatservicesth e chart" .
