connecting live is no problem, demo i don´t know.

Will the spreads stay likw it is now for how long?
I know its a liquidity issue created by the finncial collapse, but what do you guys think?
1 month? 3 months? 6 months? 1 year?
I never experienced this situation before and I have no idea.
I hope we get normal conditions on the beginning of 2009.
I am a eurgbp scalper and I am on vacation now due the spreads...

This time it's Alpari, this is why I do not recommend ANY MT4 broker to trade live..... I checked 3 other platforms and this did not happen, 1.5382 was the high on the 3 other platforms..... bucket shop tactics at it's best..... If you trade with any of these brokers be forewarned....

Anyone knows why in my Alpari demo I have less margin level that other brokers trading the same lot size? is it about leverage? don't think so, I make same money on both brokers.

I notice that Alpari set the spread in Symbol Properties to 20 on EURUSD. what exactly does this mean? a 20pip buy sell spread on every trade?? I know its only set to 2 with at least one other broker and i thougth 2 pips was about standard. I believe you can't change this number, or can you? and should you?
could this explain why testing strategies that trade extremely frequently are showing a steady but uniformed loss over time?

Majority = 4 digit

Majority = 4 digit = 2 pip

Alpari = 5 digit = 20pip.

5digit = 20 pip = 4digit = 2pip

Thanks Walander, am I right in thinking then that a scalping based EA, for example, you would not be able to stratagy back test with alpari because of the 20pip spread? I notice what you are saying about digits also, 5 & 4. what exaclty do the digits mean here? Is there any way of changing the spread or digits I fear not but you might know differently.

i just wanna let you all know, that i had an very unpleasant experience with Alpari (UK) After time of demo trading i opened a live account.
funded it with 50K US$. After about 3 mth. successfull trading with my EA
(Martingale strategie)last wk, my acct. was blown away.

I traded the USD/CHF and price came down . so my Ea opened several diffferent trades ( about 18) when a retrecement came, Alpari did not close
all my trades to close in profit.
I was infront of my PC ( btw. trading over VPS Server) and could not close
my positions over hours.......context busy.....all the time.!!!

My Ea was successfull. traded in about 3 month 25% of initial investment.

If you have a successfull EA or strategie they flag you out and try to burn you.

I had the same experience years ago with CMS ( my first FX experience).

If you trade against an dealing desk you are not able to make money long term. The Broker ist your worst enemy!!

Is there any decent ECN Broker in the Forex Business available??

if there is one let me please know.

No more bucketshop Broker to trade with.

With 5 digits you have more accuracy in your trades, but you need to change the code in the EA to get the same results. In that case, all pips referred must have one zero at the right. For example, to get a 10 pip TP, you must code it (or put it in external input) like 100 pip, that way in reality you get the same 10 pips in TP. Be aware that money don't change, only pips. It's easy if you have the *.mq4 file, otherwise you are screwed. If you have difficulties, you can send me your EA and I could change the code. PM me if you want to do this privately. No cost.
