Coesfx or FXDD ?

I was thinking of either opening account with fxdd or coesfx not sure sure wich one to go which. From what i gather so far i actually been at fxdd's office spoke with some of the people there so i know it's a reliable company but i never seen there live system. There spreads are decent 2/3 pips on majors... I've noticed Coesfx also uses metatrader now... there spreads on demo are 2-3 pips on almost all pairs which is really good. Only thing i've noticed is on the demo for coesfx that there spread on nzd/usd bounced from like 3to 9 pips and then back to 3 5 seconds later...

Is this only for nzd/usd or does this happen on 4 majors as well... im worried if they do this during news and the spreads widen and hit my stops earlier i will have potential loosing trades.

Anyone have any experiece with coesfx or fxdd as far as reliability, spreads, and execution ? All comments would be appreciated... thanks,

Fxdd

With FXDD I have noticed the NZD/USD spread go from 5 to 10 when big NZ news was about to break - but then again the spread on the EURO/GBP went up to 50/70 just before last months NFP - have never seen spreads move that much before? Have not noticed the spreads increasing since then although the NZD/USD does seem to vary between 5 and 6 pips during normal trading times. I think all the brokers have to increase spreads during volitile times, if they claim the spreads are fixed then you will find that those brokers stop the trades being executed, either the platform goes off line, or you get "price has moved cannot execute trade" messages, I have found FXDD generally to be very good, be aware that with some brokers Demo accounts everything works fine , however everything changes on their live accounts. Hope this has helped.

thnx cja... very good point, i guess there really is no choice regrding spread it will move, i noticed that especially with non dealing desk brokers... for the time being i will have to stay away from coesfx, for a broker to all of a sudden drop the nfa registration as well as fcm registration is very dangerous to have an account at.

Oh and european dont hate kiddo... just cuz it's not useful info to you dont mean others cant benefit... cheers!

I'm curious where you got your data. I show no indication CoesFx is unregistered with NFA.

1. From CoesFx site as of today:
Spot FX Clearing Corp Member National Futures Association (NFA ID# 0358427) and CFTC Registered.
Spot FX protects deposited funds from employee acts through a Fidelity 14 Bond.

CoesFX Clearing Update

- NFA Membership was withdrawn on 8/28/06.
- Futures commission merchant withdrawn on 8/28/06

source: http://www.nfa.futures.org/basicnet/...tityid=0314715

they are operating thru Spot FX Clearing Corp. which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Coesfx.

And then there is http://www.globalforexnow.com/ which apparently another spotfx company.

Looking further into spotfx, they became an NFA member at the end of Dec 2005. Looks like CoesFX will be going bye-bye. Regulatory actions perhaps made it stink a bit much?

Finally - looking at the books on http://www.cftc.gov/tm/tmfcm.htm?fro...tfcmcontent%29 for spot fx clearing corp - they look fine.

You info is for Spot FX Clearing Corp

U'll notice coesfx withdrew from nfa on 8/28/2006... yeah spot fx is registered FCM... they justed changed there corporate name for there clearing to spotfx so people wouldn't see they had disciplinary actions against them under coesfx name... u can change the name but it doesn't change the facts... still bother me even more that they would change the name all of a sudden. not to mention spot fx is just the clearing and the introducing broker is coesfx so even though the clearing(spot fx) is registered with nfa coesfx as an Introducing broker is not registered with nfa... I know cuz im a series 3 and a principle.... Again i have nothing against them i just thought id share what i found in my research. cheers guys...
