A lot is missing...

I guess I didn't point out what I was looking at, or trying to look at, but could not see because they were not there..... Look at the times at the bottom of the chart. Notice the time of say the 06:56 bar, then look at the time of the last bar, 07:18. That's 22 min, but only nine (one min) bars.... I understand that the OHLC candles will be a "dash", or a "plus sign" at times, but I still like to see all of them....

I like FXDD, I have researched them extensively. I don't think they would commit no manipulation of market, but I haven't seen it happen either. I don't trust any broker who uses MT4, that's why I'm writing my own trading platform in python that uses FIX. (Current status: FIX: read data, MT4: read data, buy, close, account info)

DollarShort, please keep in mind that MT4 is an event driven platform. If there is no tick, nothing can be done. No tick = no activity. Now I don't know if there is an option to send a tick every 1 minute (which would be kind of silly) but if there is no price change, there is no tick.

Also keep in mind that if you're comparing a broker like IBFX to FXDD, they have completely different suppliers of prices, and some are smoother than others. ECN are known for having a lot of minor price variations (MBTrading has 0.1 pip movements, GBPUSD has a lot of 0.5 pip movements up and down, etc.) It completely makes sense for retail MT4 brokers to have smoother prices, they have less volume = less volatility = less price events. No price event = no tick on chart.

Long version: Comparing high spread charts to low spread charts, I notice that the higher spread charts will often have a steady price with the smaller spread ranging up and down in between the larger spread. The "center" of each price might be idealized as the market but the "center" of one price does not match the "center" of another price. On the other hand, if the small spread price moves outside of the range bounded by the higher spread, the higher spread price moves accordingly. (Sometimes slightly before, often simultaneously)
Short version: lower spread = more volatility.

Dear guys,

Need help. I am using fxdd demo account for 2 months now and do have intention to open a live account with them in near future.

Last week, I received an email from 1 of their customer service stating that my live account are ready to be funded and to be open. Although the email look real but i have my doubt.

Is this how they attracting the customer? Can I trust it?

thanks in advance.

Daraknor,

Thanks for the reply.. I never thought about the event-driven aspect of MT4. But for the GBPUSD, isn't that a long time to be so stagnant?

I don't know what their marketing campaign is, but I wouldn't reply to that email. They have an online application as well as printable applications. I would use the online application. If you do sign up, PhoenixFund (nonprofit) would appreciate it if you used their name in the IntroducingBroker field.

Not really. The market for the past few days has been remarkably stagnant in general. What is with the Forex Market this week???

Since there was no price jump, only a 1 pip movement between prices, I wouldn't be so concerned. If you have no data for several minutes and then the price is 5 pips from the last received price, then you see a real issue.

I agree with daraknor on this. Also as another option you can always call FXDD by telephone and ask them if they sent you this email because they have good customer service by phone. cheers

Should I?

I am considering transfering some of my funds to FXDD to start using EAs again, but I've seen on another site where there was a lot of bashing on FXDD. Is there anyone here that's made money with them and withdrawn in the black? Do they requote a lot?

I'm currently with Oanda, but I would really like to go back to having things automated. It just seems like there is no MT4 broker with cheap spreads that always fills your orders at the price you see and that allows you to put pending orders at whatever price you want! Maybe I should just start paying the $600 a month to have my trades automated at Oanda.

Anyway, anybody who is or has traded with FXDD on a real account, please tell me of your experience with them. Thanks!

I have been tading live with them since last July. I have not had any out of the ordinary problems with them. Withdraws show up in the bank within 2 days.

I have received the occasional re-quote during volatile times such as a news release. Part of trading the releases.

Plus, now they have the multi-terminal from MetaQuotes. You can manage and trade multiple accounts at the same time. There is NO charting with the Multi-MT4 platform and you can not use EAs with it. But it is ready to work on live accounts. I have several in there and tested it this week, trading live accounts. Works very well. It is great for those that manage accounts for others.

Money Duck, are you saying that they don't give requotes during normal market conditions? If someone trades at all hours of the day, what would you say the percentage is of trades that are going to be requoted?

Thanks for your help!
