Thumbs up

One thing I like about this broker is that they accept PayPal. I save some money from wire transfers.

Question MT4 - FXDD datafeed questionable?

Will someone please check for me today's GBP/USD M1 chart for missing datafeed and give me a second opinion.. To list but a few of the missing candles/bars, which are MT4 server time (i.e. GMT + 3hrs):-

20.03, 20.04, 19.29, 19.37, 19.42, 19.46, 19.48

I noticed, because at one point the current candle was 3mins behind actual, real time, then it suddenly catches up, but with missing candle(s).

On all of the trading platforms I have used in the past, including TradeStation, if there are no ticks/no price changes during any 1 min timeframe the bar will print a small dot or dash (-), indicating there was no price movement and then moves on to the next bar, at least leaving a gap between bars. In all instances shown above, there are no gaps at all, so at a glance you would never notice the missing data.

This is happening daily and also with other pairs, so the M1 chart at least will not be visully accurate in respect of MA's, patterns etc due to the frequently missing data. This is not as obvious on the longer TF's and can go unnoticed.

I reported this fault to FXDD, but the tech guy was of little help and is consulting with his superior. He acknowledged the missing bars (and even checked EUR and found some) and confessed he had no experience of any other platform, other than MT4 and couldn't say if this is normal or not!!?? He said in his opinion there were no gaps showing in the feed they get from various banks, so everything must be OK and besides with 15,000 clients using the MT4 platform, this is the first time he has had this query!!??

I doubt very much that there was no price change for 2mins, between 20.02 - 20.05 particularly with GBP/USD. The tech guy did say that there was no difference between live and demo, both were showing bars missing.

It is a genuine concern, so I would appreciate hearing from anyone who can throw some light on this matter and particularly anyone trading the MT4 platform, but perhaps with a different broker and whether or not these gaps in datafeed are occurring or is it just isolated to FXDD.

I thank you in advance for any replies.

johnny

There is actually a 5mins gap, with 5 missing bars/candles between 20.28 - 20.34, which is even worse than I first thought!

When the ECN goes between a few prices over and over, they often don't move the prices on the MT4 broker side. Say the spread is 3 pips, and the price keeps changing on the ECN 0.5 to 2 pips, the price on MT4 often won't change. When the ECN pushes an upper boundary, the MT4 price changes.

Here is some ECN tick data. The large numbers are orders in dollars.
Quote:
Curr Time Date Bid Bid Vol Ask Ask Vol LastPrice
GBP/USD,17:15:42,05/13/2007,1.9822,7000000,1.9827,12000000,1.9827
17:15:42, Bid 1.9822 with 70 lots, Ask 1.9827 with 120 lots

That isn't to say that there isn't lag, it just means the price didn't move out of the broker's spread. Not bad, but not precisely accurate either.

Which is the best broker out there?

So in conclusion , which is the best broker to choose ?
Which broker do you suggest to be the best broker to start trading with and has no hidden tricks under their sleeves ? I hope it uses the meta trader 4 platform so that i can use my EA for tradings.

Thanks alot for your help

Good Day

Whats missing??!

Whats missing dude?

The market was probably stagnant like during asian period not to generate up down movement during the M1 candle. Therefore a dash is produced and no 'body'.
