Choose your broker wisely.. am impartial comparison

Hi There,

After helping run a VPS hosting service for the last 3 years specifically focusing on hosting the Metatrader platform I've seen over 40 of the top Metatraders brokers in action.

And here's my conclusion, don't believe it until you see it!

I've started this thread to continually post a journal of an EA that was built in house at our company OmegaSupreme.com. This EA backtested very well on the InterbankFX broker platform and has been live trading on certain brokers ever since.

What I will be showing is detailed statements showing the results of this EA from 4 different brokers. Same configuration of the EA, same start date, this should get us supposedly the same results on all 4 brokers.

You will see that this is definitely not the case. (This is old news of course as most of you already know this) However this exercise is to show how much of a difference there really is between each broker. You will see that in fact in just two days of running this EA with the same settings throughout all brokers has dramatically different results at each broker.

The best part of this though, is that you can see at least which brokers are close in their results and which are way off and which are profitable and which are indeed not!

This experiment is to show on an ongoing basis how the same EA with the same settings can have very different results on a daily basis.

I will post the results every day for the next little while. Your feedback is always welcome and I can also be reached via twitter - drgoodvibe is my nick there.

Attached is the statements of 4 brokers running the Omega99 EA that was built in house at OmegaSupreme.com the VPS hosting service I have co-founded. Same settings throughout all brokers. The current brokers we are testing are:

InterbankFX, FXDD, AlpariUK and FXOpen

I look forward to showing the results daily.

Thank You,
-drgoodvibe

Are these all demo accounts? Or live? That might help explain some of the differences..

These are actually demo accounts (all of them) since they are all demo we are comparing apples to apples here. Otherwise they would all have to be live. But that's really not the point at all, even the demo accounts show huge differences between them -- how can one effectively test out their EA?

Here is the week ending -- as you can see the EA is hugely successful on FXOPEN with a gorgeous straight equity graph.. it is also fairly successful on FXDD and now back up on AlpariUK and not on IBFX. The interesting note here is that AlpariUK shows triple the amounts of trades in total, why is that? Why does the EA trade so much more here and as you can see the equity graph shows erratic results. This is where some investigating will have to occur.

The results shouldn't differ sooooo much.
Maybe you didn't handle the failed orders correctly? What slippage did you set? Have your EA logged any order errors for further analysis?

Great thread

am i right in thinking that the results could differ so much due the where the broker gets there data from, as in from one of the ECN data suppliers like FXALL, Currenex, FX Connect, 360T or Hotspot FXi etc

I think FXALL have the most number of bank to obtain data from 60+ so in theory their data should be of higher quality with less spikes etc.

or am i on the wrong track

Cheers

Beno
