Hi,

I want to open a new account with alpari, i was with interbankfx before did my mini account right there. Since i heard lot of bad things about it so i want to move all my money into alpari.

I just want to know about alpari, is there anyone here using alpari as their's broker? What about the server connection (connection lost)? price re-quotes? Withdrawal money? Stop hunting? Is there any serious problem with this broker?

I really need any suggestion about alpari since i really want to put big money in it.

Thanx Linux, it would really help turn my RED light on - there seems to be too many blank spaces existing. I don't like firms operating under different names either - it looks as a backdoor insurance for any further damage claims / maybe I am wrong, who knows/. For the time being I will stay with MIG - though too many requotes, I must frankly say that I did not suffer any loss due to stoploss execution failure up to now /even during severe volatile conditions I got my stop losses filled/. Instead of separating my energy in an unnecessary direction of searching for a new broker I ,must concentrate on the core of my trades /which are quite lousy up to now/ and I suggest you all start doing this!

Seems like the SIPC will cover your cash sitting in a brokerage, but not any "open" positions? Is that how you read that??

With 500K or more you could probably deal directly with the interbanks. Try banks like Citigroup, UBS, Bank of America, Royal Bank of Scotland, Credit Suisse, HSBC, Deutche Bank, Royal Bank of Canada.. Just some off the top of my head..

about Crown Forex: I had a phone conversation with them. The info about scalping which I got was: they allow it, but not as many as 100 trades a day, because they make all trades MANUALLY (!!!). --- What you can read here in the forum is info contradicting to this ("less than 8 pips profit is forbidden scalping"). My summary: they do not know what they want, or, they know it but are unseriously dishonest. And look at the below chat transcript which I have found on another website: they are not serious or have no knowledge. - Also I asked how is one pip only possible ? The man on the phone (it was the vice president of the swiss office!!!) told me: "are you new to forex ? You did not study the account statements of your demo account. It is one pip when entering and one pip when closing, so it makes 2 pips for one round turn." In fact, however, their spread is 1, not 2 pips. So again they do not know their instrument. Or, they know their instrument very well and the only thing they want is somehow stealing your money. Or it is some money laundring company, and they need some "official business".
About REQUOTES, I wish to defend Crown Forex: if you offer only 1 pip spread, I think any serious company would make requotes. If the spread is so tight and you need too long to decide, then the price is somewhere else. (If they would not make requotes, you could make arbitrage between the old offered price and the new market price.) However, a MANUAL order processing (instead of Straight Through Processing) is almost a contradiction to the low spread.

you: no, i guess you dont get it. If I have a Buy positon of audjpy in other brokers, i can get a positive interest position. To hedge this posisiton i put a sell trade at crownforex. So I will have the same sell position at crown because i dont have to pay for interest.

you: it is called a swap-arbitrage strategy. in this situation i use crown forex for the opposite position without having to pay the interest.

If a margin call hapening, i will inject another deposit of margin to maintain the position. is tis allowed ?

Crownforex smells fishy... beware. I think it is a jordanian company that has a Swiss address to make it look legitimate. How many people around the world will deal with a jordan based company compared to a swiss company? I think the choice is clear in my mind.

I think i'm just going to have to settle for http://www.manfinancialfx.ca . There spread is huge, 5Pips for GBPUSD, and 3 for EURUSD.. but at least I don't have to worry about them running off with my money, or the company going bankrupt and me losing everything. I have had experience with there platform back when they used to be REFCO Canada -- didn't have too many requote problems.

Who can you trust?!?!
