You can use period converter script.
Because data is different in the brokers. It is impossible to have H1 from IBFX, M15 from Alpari and and so on: it will not work. If you use Alpari for backtesting so all the data for backtesting should be from Alpari. If IBFX - so all the data must be from IBFX. In this way you may download M1 data and use period converter script to create any timeframes from M1 (when Metatrader is not connected).

Hi Ghamm,

Would you share some of your data/robot ?

If not, I never wrote a robot could you just give me some directions/guidelines ? You wrote it in perl/python with standard modules ?

best regards...

Further history on smaller time frames

Hi Fellas,

Just wondering how i can increase the history of a particular chart on a smaller time frame. For eg. on a 5 min chart, i can only extend back up to early Feb '08. How can i make it go even later, such as 3-5 more years?

I need this for backtesting smaller timeframes, for many many months.

Hope you all know what i am talking about.

Thank you

Kind Regards,
Hatari

PS: I use FXDD Metatrader 4

The only way it to install separated Metatrader and download M1 data for few years and than convert this data (using period converter script) to M5 and so on and use this separated Metatrader for backtesting.

Or ask someone: may be some members are using your broker for few years and they should have the data in Metatrader's directory in their PCs so they can post it here.

Period convertor script is standard script in Metatrader.
You can read how to do it here Trading with metatrader | www.metatrader.info
