Opening a .hst file

You can open a .hst file in Notepad, but the data may not be in a readable format.

The .hst files from MT4 may be opened in Notepad or the MT4 editor, but the info displayed is not readable.

Best regards,
Gary "Zoo" Rezeau

hummm...

just export history to a cvs file format...
press F2, choose the symbol and timeframe and click in export button...
the data i saved in format text...

but, if you need tick by tick, then write a EA for save each tick (date time, ask, bid) and run back test (mode each tick), remember, the file is saved in "MTDirectory\tester\files"

sorry for my english...

If the .HST file is part of your MetaTrader installation (i.e., it resides in the History folder), you can open it through the History Center (under Tools) and then modify it.
  1. Double-click the instrument on the left, which will open the file on the right.
  2. Select the line you want to change and click "Edit". This will open a popup where you can change the values.

Hi folks,

I am using my XLS (2000) to test some (FX) formulii and keep on getting into trouble!

I can download the MT4 data in csv format OK, but when I save the worksheet I get a message that tells me I cant save the formulii. I save the sheet anyway and when I re open that sheet all the formulii have disappeared. I only get the text returned.

What am I doing wrong ??? How do I get around this problem???
