Hotkeys for Buy and Sell

Hi All,

I've looked in the MT4 help setion and didn't find a list of keyboard shortcuts. Today I noticed that Control plus +, - made the trading screen bigger/smaller.

Does anybody have a list for the shortcuts?

Thanks!

Hotkeys for Buy and Sell

I remeber there was a way to assign hotkeys for certian functions but the location escapes me at the moment. I just invested in a blooomberg terminal and I must say it's worth the price. I've traded a few news events starting with sone NZD news Thursday afternoon (US). I got the news, sold 10 lots NZDUSD and seconds later the spike occurred, about 20+ pips in my favor. I've did the same thing twice on Friday.

Now, I'm not here to pimp the bloomberg service. I think it's good, but that's up to the individual and if you can afford it in your stage of the trading game. I'm not a news trader by default, but I have to admit, leading the spike by a few seconds makes it worthwhile.

When the news is coming out I have the order window up for the pair I'm going to trade. Is there any way to assign hotkeys to do the buying or selling using just the keyboard? It might seem trivial, but I think it's be easier execution for me. Press key "X" to buy or key "Y" to sell.

Again, I think someone designed a script once or a dll, but I cannot for the life of me remember where it was. Can someone help me out?

Nevermind

Everyting I needed was here:

http://articles.mql4.com/189

I made 2 scripts to do this that I think are better than a buy and sell script I had. Please find the attached.

Still seems to me there was an even bbetter way to assign hotkeys to a whole host of functions.

Not To my knowledge. This is something I would be using to beat the brokers spike when news is released due to getting it a bit faster. You can modify the scripts for different SL's and TP's or remove the TP alltogether and close it manually.

Say have one script you execute via hotkeys for a 10 pip SL, and call it HotKey_Buy_10SL and assign 1 key to it. Or another with a different SL you'd assign another Hotkey to.

The key here for me is speed. Modifying the SL's and TP's would have to be done via an EA and when you have only seconds to react, I think you'd end up losing the trade altogether.

The other alternative is to straddle the news, but most brokers aren't a fan of this and you run the risk of the brokers widening the spreads so far that both your SL's will get hit expecially with the whipsaws. Thus might be a better alternative.

Here are the scripts with no TP, but I've added a script to close the order which you can assign a new hotkey to as well.

The only thing is this:

You must have the correct chart window selected (for the pair you're trading) once you hit the hotkey buy or sell. Otherwise you're going to enter a position in the pair who's window is selected (which may not be what you want). So be sure.

The close script was designed to exit the LAST position opened in that pair. Again, make sure the right window is selected. This way if you have one open position in the pair prior to making a news trade it'll be the last one you entered that gets closed. It closes both buy and sell positions. So keep that in mind. It's really designed to trade a pair that has no open positions... just for news.

Duplicate trendline

Hi

If you want to duplicate a trendline you select (double click) the trendline then hold Ctrl down and drag and drop the line.
( Ctrl + drag and drop )

It is useful if you want a perfect parallel line for a channel or something like that.
