I just finish to read the simba thread but I canīt visualize how to use the filter generator to find the best value for some indicator.
Also, seeing your picture I canīt understand from where you take the 24-35-45-115.
Sorry if is a simple question, I have a slow day, but could you explain a little more.
Thanks.
Hi Linuxser,
To use the dfgenerator to find the best value for any indicator you have to do the following :
From the generator
1-click the spectrum analyzer, the grid like icon
2-open file with data and timeframe..ie GBPUSD 240M..you can select the range of data with the from/to bars, thoughI suggest that you leave max data
3-Click CALCULATE..wait a few seconds and you will get a frequency spectrum like the one in the pic from Tragapips..
4-Look for the PEAKS,these are,in Tragapips example..at 24,35,and 45 periods..so ,these are the dominant cycles
5-If you want to use normal indicators like RSI,STOCHASTICS,etc..change the default period to HALF the dominant cycle,if you want to know why,go to [url]www.mesasoftware.com ,where there are several good and free technical papers on cycles,so..in the Tragapips example, which is for GBPUSD 30M,you could use an Stochastic indicator set at either 12,17 or 22 perids,or even better(try it)3 stochastics, each one set at one of the periods and trade only when the 3 of them are in OBOS area..of course,in the direction of the major trend
6.If you want to use sma, ema, jma, hull ma,etc use the FULL cycle length,so,in that case your mas should have a length of 24,35,45 if you want to achieve the best results from them..ie:for trend slope when the 3 mas are up..trend is up...for crossovers you must choose one of the 3 and use a shorter cycle length for crossings..ie the example..you have a small peak at 11/12 periods,so you use crossovers of ma 11 with ma45
7-If you want to use the digital filter generator to create your own satls, fatls, etc, once you know the dominant cycles..just click on the nearer icon(the guy on safari helmet )..and then for example click the relevant settings ie :low pass,p1=45 d1=35..you are extracting the 45 cycle component while allowing some of the cyclic components of the 35 cycle to be included and eliminating all the "lower period=higher frequencies" cycles, hence the name "low(frequency)pass-filter"..this way you will have created a "satl like" digital filter specifically for the pair and tf that you are trading..then you can save it directly in your mt4 as "linuxser satl".mq4..or whatever you want to name it..it will be saved as indicator, you just will have to compile, you don`t need to create the headings of the indicator, etc, the software does it automatically..extract the cycle, save as,compile and you are fully equipped with a fairly lethal weapon..
I divide these 3 values by two (half) and got 11, 28 and and 44.
Itīs easy for RSI or W %R, but for stoch? 11-3-3, 28-3-3, 44-3-3?....
...Try this..11/5/3..28/11/3..44/11/3..though I would suggest that you use JRSX instead of stch,rsi,etc..it is faster and smoother..probably the first divergence in the shorter period(11) coincident with a signal in the 28 period will be fairly efficient
MACD is easy, because the original (Appel) MACD is 13/26, the fast EMA is the half of the slow EMA, so if I have 11, my MACD would be 11-22-9.....
..Yes,this is one option, another one would be 11/28/X..where you should test the x value..why the smoothing should be 9?In any case 11/22/9 or 11/28/9 will give better results than 13/26/9..and I would recommend you to use the digital macd..same reason..
Thanks in advance.
