Hello to all,

I am seeking advice on how to tackle a problem I am having. How would you solve this problem?

Taking a look at this picture you can see a single indicator in yellow, now what I am trying to do is within an EA I am trying to figure out where my current position is in relation to the past line levels.

For Example, if I am at Point A, how can I determine how many levels point D is away from point A and if there is in Counter Direction points in-between (there is none) but on the picture you can see this on points I to F.

The indicator is something that I built back in Jan 2005 but just now getting around to seeing if it is useful. Basically just looking for some ideas.

Thank you for taking the time to look at my post. The yellow line is the underlining trend. As you can see when the yellow line is horizontal price is in a consolidation phase.
