Metatrader 4

Hi everyone,

I am new on this forum.
I have a simple question: what is Metatrader 4 ?

I use and compute my systems on TradeStation 8.0.
I never heard about Metatrader 4 ?

If someone could post some info.

Metatrader 4 is a trading platform that has become very popular in recent years. Was made by a company called Metaquotes from Russia. It comes with its own IDE that allows you to program custom indicators and automated trading strategies known as Experts or Expert Advisors. Lots of talented people from this and similar forums have been spending hundrets of hours developing systems to be used with the platform and making them available mostly for free to traders from all corners of the globe.

Do you guys think I got it right?

Tradestations uses its own language (EasyLanguage).
What is the language use on Metatrader 4:
C ++ ? or something "easier".
Where can I found the software (buy, download)

Hi,

MT 4 is free, you can d'load from www.metaquotes.net/mtsetup.exe (just for demo)
or might be you can buy it.
for programing used MQL, please go to meta trader development course area/thread , you can learn it How to make a program ( posted by codersguru)

Just my 2 cents...

I used Tradestation in the past and it's a great platform. But it doesn't beat MT4, in my opinion.

The applications (EAs, indicators, scripts, etc.) are written in MQL (Meta Quotes Language) which is a language very close to C. So if you're familiar with the C language, you will not be lost in MQL. There are also lots of tutorials on beginning language programming. It will be well worth your learning time, because MT4 really does have infinite (well maybe not "infinite"

) possibilities.

diferent strokes for diferent folks i gess.

i used TS when i trading stocks and it was top of my list fgrom the other 5 platforms i used. tried it for FX and it suck. just my opinion
