The best development for the 10point3 will be to turn it off during the news, my code will be to unplug the power from your computer, get away with some losses and close the positions before you lose more …
I said it before and I will say it again .. the 10point3 will ALWAYS give great nice results in backtests, no need to repeat that over and over again, its just a waste of time … . This EA screws up badly during the news … and the only way to test the news is on live demo accounts … backtest will not simulate the news for real as we all know how fast the market moves and we have seen that during cable news last week … I respect and admire all the hard work done by the developers and the testers in this blog … I just hate to see more people trying to prove what we all know ( this is a great EA on backtests) .. focus on the problem ( NEWS) .. run real live accounts during the news … and if its not a demo don’t forget to include my code ( SHUT IT DOWN) ....

Where is this news code you are talking about, would like to implement it into my e.a. code, also per your advise no more mods done by me on this thread anymore, will only be done for my personal use.

I have no comment on back testing results I never use them preferring to forward test and that I have been doing since August on variations of 10points3.

That the news is a hazard is true but if one looks at the results of the majority of news announcements one will find often a spike or retracement that will actually help these EAs and not forgetting that one has a 50% chance of being in the right trading direction.

Over the past few months I have posted that the NFP should be avoided and to look for an opportunity to close down in profit prior to the announcement and there may be another, the FOMC, to avoid but to say that all news announcements should be avoided and to close down prior in all cases will cause unneccessary losses and lose many opportunities for profit.

When the DLM series was created and posted on the elcactus forum there was a csv file provided that if incorporated in the EA would close down the EA during news announcements. Obviously the Author regarded the news as sufficiently important to code it into the DLM series but not important enough to prepare it on a monthly basis for the general membership.

On the subject of posting modifications to EAs it is up to the individual to decide whether to test them, I personally test the EAs that are posted here and would be upset if new editions and modifications were not posted. This thread has prospered because members have generously contributed their thoughts and expertise over 108 pages so to deny members the opportunity to test new versions would seem inappropriate.

I have been watching this thread for some weeks now, though never posted... and as yeoeleven said, I think we are getting somewhere now (even if it's a dark place )

Unlike mrtools said, I personnaly like gator indicator and its derivatives. Tried to automate that a while ago, but it went no good. So I say keep up with 10point3 spawns.

During the next days, I will be testing stability and other issues of 10point3 in my real account (obviously in micro-mini lots).

Hope to write again in the next few hours.

My code for the news is SWITCH OFF the EA before the news and if you have any open positions close them with small loss .. that maybe the only way you can make money with this EA...
Personally I have tested different versions of 10point3 mostly using John's setting and recommendations all end up in burring the account after a couple of news announcements… I did not give up that’s why I am here … but I hate to see someone go into this blog see the nice results, rush in and use the EA makes some money and lose more in the first news announcements .... I am just making a point here more and more tests will only prove that this is a great EA no doubt about it BUT not during news ... Unless someone comes up with a major modifications to solve this problem more backtests will not mean anything, the original 10point3 with no modifications at all will give great results on backtest..... John thanks for the forward tests.. I check them from time to time …still the 10point3 has the news problem and need to be solved ..Homework for ( guys who have time to read ) read other posts most EAs have a problem with news try to find out how they solve their problem and post the link here ..instead of posting the backtest it will be more useful.

There are several sources for the news I can send you some links if you want ..Mainly switch the EA b4 the news BUT the problem in forex other unexpected news cause a big move in the market … for example that was last week

This cause the market to move 160 pip in one hour … I was not running the 10point3 but I am almost sure it did a big miss during this announcement….
