I would have thought that a fractal breakout strategy would enjoy greatest success if it were used in conjunction with a trend indicator such that you only trade in the direction of the trend and ignore the contra-trend breaks (instead use these to close open positions).
Out of interest, does anybody know what the formation criteria of Bill Williams' Fractals is? They seem to be a little more complicated than just a bar with a high or low which is higher or lower than both the preceeding and following price bars.
If I remember, Minime had a similar idea with 3 fractals alignment.
FerruFx
yes, its true ferrux... its seem good on backtest too...but we need more on conformation tools if the trend is really strong goes Uptrend or downtrend..
surely those brokers will put their attention on this indicator ..if this tools so hot & spicy..hehehhehe

Thanks for the link, FerruFX. Fractals appear to form from a series of 5 price bars with the high/low forming on the middle bar, whereas the De Mark highs/lows form from a series of 3.
I've noticed that fractal will form on bar 2 while the current bar is still forming, only to be deleted if the current bar makes a higher high or lower low. This in turn will cause a new fractal trendline to be drawn which will also be deleted along with the fractal.
It's my opinion that the fractal trendline indicators should be modified to not draw the trendline until the current bar is fully formed. It will only take about 10 seconds to modify.
Sorry, I don't mean to interrupt the fractal breakout discussion, which looks very interesting.
I would like to post two indicators those reading about Hurst may enjoy. One projects centered sma's flattening out as trendlines, the other posts 'repainting' sma's that use the half-cycle.
