looking for this concept for an indicator

How do you get a medium term Chandelier and a short term Chandelier on the same screen?

Answer seems to be to break up price chart into periods or blocks of time.
Or, break up into blocks according to the medium term Chandelier.

i.e. take a normal Chandelier indicator and where ever price hits - there you have a new block.

So at the beginning of this new block is also a short term chandelier too.
This short term indicator will ratchet up quickly when there are big moves.

How to achieve this ?

See approx example here

Hi nekt

You don`t need to read the full thread to find what you want, though I obviously believe it is worth the time invested..

Find the mtf Chandelier here, and take a look at the screenshot, where you have a 5m Chandelier within a 60m one

Don`t believe the advertised hit rate,at least for cable ,I tested this concept a few months ago,and though profitable, the system is far from being the Holy Grail..though it is safe..and profitable

You probably would want to experiment with different combinations,as I am doing now..Chandelier1h+PSAR 5m/15m is an interesting one..I believe, though still not tested, that chand +psar is a far better combination than Chand+chand..since Chandelier has very interesting "keep you in the trend" characteristics..while PSAR let you keep most of your profits

See the second pic for an interesting combination of 1h Chandelier+15 m Psar+15 m Bolinger bands...I am thinking about opening a new thread with this concept and see if we can have the kind of support we had in Simbasystem thread in order to create tools for testing and improving our assumptions..ie EAs..

Hope this helps
Simba

wow! that's exactly what I was thinking about some time ago

What is this multi-currency clusters chart on? it looks cool on its own, do you know if there's version for MT or just a separate app that could be used to group clusters of currencies by their trend?

Last sessions range box

Read somewhere someone mentioned that hans123 used criteria to break up periods.
Even if you use last EURO session high and low before the open of the US market - and look for breakout of the box within the US session.
Perhaps i am thinking of a pipboxer derivative, as discussed in Suggest indicators discussion area.

ie. Plotting the chandelier from the point of the break of the box.

It is a similar concept to getting an chandelier to plot off a trend line break.

Could even be off the step indicator. As price breaks the step. Plot from here.
Step indicators

So......can a script add another Chandelier object dynamically, as is needed, with a new handle each time ? Can the Chandelier indicator be tweaked to take an extra parameter - the start date and time , and a numericflag to indicate the number of SAR's it should have a life for ?

I am curious to ask.
Does chandlier reflect a typical popular trailing stop, or is in more like a ratcheting trailing stop?

I ask because I would imagine it is not uncommon to place three trades. One for quick profit, another with trailing stop, and another with ratcheting trailing stops - all psaced out.

That's a typical snapback trade. Watch for a pullback on either down or up side move, check price actions, then enter the snapback trade. Most systems in this forum should have the snapback trade setup, just do the search and check them out. You can also use a couple of moving averages to catch those moves.

ENJOY!
