some of the guys are selling some ex4 system cheaper then the mq4 file for the same system. I'm not intersted in the system at all but I was just wondering why the ex4 file is worth less than the mq4 ?

.ex4 - compiled file. You will not be able to see the source code (=alter it in any way).
.mq4 - source code. You can see the source code, you can edit it in any way you want. People might want to buy version with source if they for example like an implementation of some of the function of an expert (= thus they would like to have that part of the code for use in the own work, for example), or they might wanna have a code of an indicator to make an expert out of it.

Of course the source code costs more than just a compiled version. I hope its clear now.
