I've also had connection problems with Oanda...cable and dialup. And it's definitely not a problem with my internet.
But it has always been at random times. I'm trading small $$ right now, so definitely will need to switch to another broker no matter how good Oanda is in other aspects.

HotspotFX

Where can I find their transaction costs?
They just mention they are low.

Who is the counterparty to my transaction?
Hotspot FX is the counterparty to all transactions.

Hmmm.....

I have been with Oanda for quite some time and I also have been at the receiving end of connection problems. As usual the customer service told me to keep checking everything at my end as no one else has experienced any problems. Well, I dont really have any problem with Oanda as they have been very reliable and prompt customer service. However, this was a minor incident that occurs now and then.

Well, I guess all brokers have their advantages and disadvantages.
Even if you go for a ECN service,,, you can expect a 10pip spread at news time though other times its possible to have a 1pip on various majors.

So nothing is perfect and you should be expecting this with any broker.
I can deal with most issues like slippage, wider spreads at news but I am not ready to deal with connection problems.

I have been trading manually in my Oanda account for about six months, and I think they are a good, honest broker. I initially lost about 10% of my account balance, but was able to gain it back by making good trades. I can tell you they don't run stops because I have watched their rates come within less than a pip of my stop loss, then reverse without hitting it. Yes, Oanda offers fractional pips, such as 1.5 pip spread on EUR/USD. The spreads widen drastically during news events, but that has not affected me, as my trades last for hours or days, not seconds or minutes.

Withdrawing my account balance from Oanda was easy. I filled out an online withdrawal form in the morning, and in the afternoon the money was wired into my bank account and available for withdrawl. The only reason I withdrew my money is because I have written an Expert Advisor to automate my trading, and Oanda does not support MetaTrader. I refuse to pay them the outrageous fee of $600 per month to use their API. That's more than my monthly mortgage payment and property tax combined.

So how long have you worked for the "famed", the best in the who whole wide
world..................OANDA ????????????

o.k..........lets be fair........but NOT tooo stupid,

fair= do Oranda offer metatrader platform as an option?

fair= they seem like they would have some nice data feeds for other software.

stuped=I've had other brokages actually cold call me and try to hard sell ther fx serices and platform; and all they did was throw insults at metatrader;
instead of offering it as another option, which is their choice. So the sound of we are great and they are bad is fimliar!!!

fair= I use FXDD they 've been good, and fair and honest, so far.

fair= FXDD also offers other trading platforms besides metatrader.

fair= I am in the proccess of opening another account Interbankfx;
but have had no experience with them, and have some of those spooky story in the back.............................................. ..........................................
of my head........but I do know of respectable Traders who use them to make money and don't complain,\....also their regesterd (not nessary a good thing).

I like how metatrader works and looks so its my main choice; so I choose the brokers at that. Although I do use FXCM platform for my other stuff.
Lets not forget all those java based platforms for S&P and futures "CANDY".

Be Nice
