I know I must be doing something silly but when I try set up an EA to test this indicator I get a strange value being returned in all 4 buffers. I was looking to trigger trades when either the buy or sell signal buffers were populated with non zero values, consistent with the values returned in the data window. However, when I try to read the buffers from the EA the value being returned is "2147483647'. Is this some sort of control number or what? What am I doing wrong?

"2147483647" is the default "Empty Value" for an indic.
See "Special Constants" in mq4 help :
I let you verify that 0x7FFFFFFF is 2147483647 in base 10.

Thank you for your very prompt response. I don't know how I missed this. I will need to look at my coding further because I was testing for "Empty Value" which should have been triggered.

I need to do further tests before I can say it works conclusively for me. It is 5 bars ahead (only some times) so works better than a lot of indicators do. I am not sure I could use it though because it misses some moves as well, so it probably about balances out overall and doesn't make as much as I would trading with lag. Hmm, how does this thing decide? Would be interested what it works off.

I may have to design a new system for this for catching small pips, I just can't figure out how this indicator misses all big moves. Was it meant to?

See screenshot (23/11/07) for an example on how it missed an uptrend. If you made a lot of money buying and selling this using a lagging indicator.....good on you

That's the problem with all lagging indicators......

And I,m sure that I'll test it,too!Perhaps together can improve this indicator.....

the problem with scalping is....
you need to know if you have enough "push in the market to make your move turn to profit


i modified asn indicator and wait for red dot sell green dot buy

of course i use discretion and try to navigate around news

5 min - 15 min eur - normally the lowest spreads


self control and waiting is the key
exit is normally after 6 pips profit

Ur scalper signal is excellent. I use it in futures like TTM.
I've tested it on FX and its a good indi.
Set up on 15mins. use i-paramountworks.

watch for scalper signal at extreme of time zone .

Example signal gave a sell in eur at 1.5730 lvls today. Now its 1.5680
Signal gave a sell in gbp at 19770 lvls today now its 1.9738
Signal gave a buy in $jpy at 106.45 lvls today. now its 107.18

What would be nice is an alert when scalper signal is on.

It can be used without the bbsqueeze. the bbsqueeze triggers trades and the scalpersignal is used to exit. ( in futures)
But I use it different.

Nix, if you still around and can add an alert to scalper signal. It would be most appreciated. Cos I trade futures mainly and need alert cos I dun watch
FX all the time.

scalper signal will always show abt 3 bars late, as in TTM .
stop 5 pips from high or low of scalper bar.
One would need a filter for this signal. ( whatever one prefers)

For futures ( Index) I use REI Non lag and ergodic histogram .

I dun use these on FX.
Rational is this.....Dealers think in ranges. The tokyo,London and NY high and low. So I use these points for swing from scalpersignal.

Rather crude but thats what my trading partner likes to trade.
But i pefer as few lines on my charts as possible.
