Countless EA's that Scalp the EURGBP failed in 2007 because of their internal design- nothing else (and spread this year)
Scalping is designed to maximize profit by engaging profitable trades in a) very short period of time or b) a very short price swing.
The reason are a multitude of reasons that could possible answer directly why a PARTICULAR EA no longer works, but in general its based on how they make their trading decision.
For example, if an EA is based off an indicator such as Stochastics, the probability of the EA doing well in a trending period is definitely decreased as the indicator is more or less meant to work well in a ranging period.
But, if the EA is a price action based scalping system, it will really work regardless of the market situation.
Hope that answers.

Why most of them stopped working after 2007?
Is it because EURGBP started to trend after 2007?
