What I have seen is that people are becoming more and more interested in scalping techniques and most indicators are now being suited for scalping. This is quite understandable, because of the profit of this technique. But I want to make this topic, so that we, the traders that use higher TFs, like 4H, daily or weekly can discuss what indicators are we using. I personally seem to be removing indicator after indicator, and looking only in price action, trendlines, s/r levels. What is your experience? (shades)

Hi all,
I need to practise with MT4 in history data forex charts in various TFs (from M5 up to H4 or daily). So I m looking for a script/indicator (not sure) that will display each candle on MT4 (on each TF) one by one and not all together.

Just to make this clear I ll give an example. Suppose we go back to January 2009 and we display the H1 TF. I do not want to be able to see anything after the 1st of Jan 2009 (just up to the 1st of Jan and then an empty chart even if I scroll right the chart). But by pressing a key (F12 or something) the next candle to appear on the screen.

I hope you did understand what i m looking for. Sorry but English isnt my native language.

Thanks

Athan

PS. I know about the MT4 feature of pressing F12 and appears one by one each candle. But I m looking for something better so not to cheat when I m practising!

Hi,

I have the following requirement. I am trying to write an OCO (one cancels the other) type of logic.

1) Say I have 2 live buy orders (eg., A & B). I need to place 4 pending orders for the same currency pair : 2 buy & 2 sell. (say C & D are buy and E & F are sell).

Now if any of the new pending orders become live, then I need the other pending orders for the same currency pair cancelled and moved 20 pips closer to the orders that just became live.

If C & D become live, then I should have these orders :

A, B, C & D (all are live buy orders).
E & F (both are sell pending orders, 20 pips below C or D whichever is lower).

(If C & D were live sell orders, then E & F should be buy pending orders, 20 pips above C or D whichever is higher.)

2) If the new live orders (C & D) close in profit, then I need to cancel the pending orders (E & F).

Not sure how much of coding this would require. Can someone please help me to code this?

Thanks

Today we saw another trade take profit and work out according to plan. There were a few bumps in the road but like every other trade, that is ok. Let's take a look at where it came from vs. where it is right now. We entered this trade at 1.68335 at the top of the resistance. If we were to draw a line straight across the top we could see that this indeed is resistance. That is our first clue. Second, when we are looking at this trade our stochastics are extremely overbought, not just on one time frame but in this case ALL time frames (M30, H1, H4 and D1). The other thing that happened here was that we could see after the second to last candle stick ended bullish yet very indecisive due to the length of the wick, that we were due for a reversal off the WR1 level. All of this together is clue that we are headed down to a support level. Take a look below at the chart.

Ok, now, once we hit a major resistance level and can see that a reversal is probably going to happen, we are looking for what I call "a noise trade". A noise trade simply means that you are looking for a bump in the road, we may be going higher and there are Gartley's and things like that showing we would be going higher, but for now we are just looking for some sort of small retracement. Small in this case was 80+ pips but in the long run it was small compared to where it could go on the weekly charts. See once a trade has hit that major resistance level a sort of psychological short comes into play creating an impulsive trend. The markets will end up going short because people think it will; a lot of traders in the market anticipating something will drive the money that direction, sort of supply and demand theory.

As we can see now by looking at what has happened that our trade has taken profit and the market seems to be still moving in our original direction. We can also see by looking back that there was a spike in the market during our trade.

As of the time that this screen shot was taken, the market was at a 50% level of retracement from the low of last week. that's ok, that would tell me that there is a possibility that it might run to 61.8% maybe further. don't take a trade unless you are sure though.

What is Day Trading?

Day trading (and trading in general) is the buying and selling of various financial instruments, such as futures, options, currencies, and stocks, with the goal of making a profit from the difference between the buying price and the selling price. Day trading differs slightly from other styles of trading in that positions are rarely (if ever) held overnight or when the market being traded is closed.
Day trading was originally only available to financial companies (such as banks), because only they had access to the exchanges and market data. But with recent technology such as the Internet, individual traders now have direct access to the same exchanges and market data, and can make the same trades at very low cost.
Characteristics of a Day Trader
•	Knowledge and Experience in the Marketplace
Individuals who attempt to day trade without an understanding of market fundamentals often end up losing money.
•	Sufficient Capital
One cannot expect to make money day trading. Day traders use only risk capital, which they can afford to lose. Not only does this protect them from financial ruin, but it also helps eliminate emotion from their trading. A large amount of capital is often necessary to capitalize effectively on intra-day price movements.
•	A Strategy
A trader needs an edge over the rest of the market. There are several different strategies that day traders utilize, including: swing trading, arbitrage as well as trading news, among others. These strategies are refined until they produce consistent profits and effectively limit losses.
•	Discipline
A profitable strategy is useless without discipline. Many day traders end up losing a lot of money because they fail to make trades that meet their own criteria. As they say, “Plan the trade and trade the plan.” Success is impossible without discipline.

If your broker is in the US, what are your thoughts on the upcoming NFA regulation concerning leverage. I just received the following email.

--------------------------------------------------------
Dear Valued Customer,

In compliance with the upcoming NFA regulations, we will no longer be offering
accounts with more than 100:1 leverage. We are also required to alter the leverage
levels on our existing accounts. We want our customers to be aware of these new
requirements to determine in advance how this may affect their trading plans and
decisions.

We are writing you because this affects your live account with Interbank FX.

As of market open on November 29, 2009, all currency pairs will have a maximum
leverage of 100:1, with the exception of the USD/SGD and the USD/ZAR which will have
a maximum leverage of 25:1.

Please be aware that this change will impact your margin requirement for any open or
future positions. For example, if you?re trading in a mini contract worth $10,000
at 100:1, you will need to post a $100 margin to open that mini lot trade. For a
nano lot, which is 0.01 of a mini contract, you will be required to post $1.

The margin call and stop levels on your 100:1 account will be: Margin Call - 65%,
Stop Out - 50%. As a contrast, if your account was 400:1 your levels would have
been: Margin Call - 125%, Stop Out - 100%. Or Margin Call - 100% and Stop Out - 50%
for a 200:1 account. We also want you to understand how leverage can work both for
and against you.

Please consider your account balance and how the new margin requirements will affect
you. If you need to deposit funds, simply click on the link below and remember, we
now offer no fee credit card deposits.

2. The EA take position if the price break the dolly level buy or sell and if the trend condition is according the variables Use_M5_Trend_Analysis_Hg, Use_H1_Trend_Hg and Use_M1M5_EntrySignal_Hg;

3. Suppose the EA take a buy position on GBPUSD at 1,6808 (Buy Breakout with TP at Target 2 and SL in the beginning of Sell Area). At the same time or a few seconds after placing a Buy, the EA put StopSell 0.3 lot at 1,6766 (SL from Buy – Pips_Distance). Attentions to LOTS.

4. If the TP not reached and the price goes down and reach SL, after a few the StopSell try to reach the TP. If so, we have profit in the 2 orders combination.

5. But if TP of the second order not reached and the price goes up again, we have one Stop Buy already at the Buy area. At the time Stop Sell was reached and became active Sell 0.3 lot, we have to immediately place the Stop Buy 0.6 lot at Buy area.

6. If the price goes up and reach the TP, then we have profit in all orders combination too.

7. If the price goes down again without reaching any TP, then continue anticipating with Stop Sell 0.09 lot, then Stop Buy 0.27 lot,…and next. Continue this sequence until we meet the profit. Lots : 0.01, 0.03, 0.06, 0.09, 0.27, 0.81, …
