I used Fukinagashi recommendation because he was the EA coder and have good luck with those parameters. This is for v6. I am having very good result. I only lose 1 out 12 trades (avg) and the lost is very minimal in a lot of cases.
Good question and: no, i changed the timeframes a bit. What I do is that all 3-4 days I monitor & backtest (short term) how starter is doing in the timeframes M15,M30,H1 and I usually switch to the best.
My standard parameters remain the same, SL:35, TS: 0, TP:10, only the timeframe setups I re-analyze.
ATM I have quite a funny setup. For example I found out that USDJPY and GBPUSD is doing very well in these timeframes. So despite all understanding of the advantage of diversification I trade USDJPY on M15 and M30 and H1.
(and before you ask: yes, these are quite some, it takes a while until my MT is started and it takes quite some resources, especially considering that I have a few other experts running on my system, like Hans123Trader. So on my live-trading system I dropped all indicators, to cater for that issue, and the computer is dedicated only for that. All programming, testing and development I do on another Computer)
I believe in the need to make this analysis a continuos project. That is the same reason why I actually stopped using another version of starter (i am not going to say which, since I don't want to indirectly attack the author, which I really appreciate). I just saw that it continuosly created losses and failed in backtesting, so i dropped it besides all what I thought about it. Its something like the poor-men-versiion of the survival of the fittest

I think you are confusing between starter V6 (fukinagashi contributed into coding that one) and hans123trader breakout gbp/usd & eur/usd EA (which fuki coded from scratch with HANS's system).
"What I do is that all 3-4 days I monitor & backtest (short term) how starter is doing in the timeframes M15,M30,H1 and I usually switch to the best."
by the way, the link you gave us is for the starter EA thread.
Please look at this place for the same setup that I took from fuki(starter V6)
You're right I got confused. I do use Hans123Trader. With 15 to an hour. What is your parameters for hans123Trader and how well it did on foward testing? What pairs are you using on?

I am using the same setup that Hans and fuki recommended:
Gbp/usd and eur/usd only, attached on M5 charts.
It's been only a trading week of forward testing and I can see the potential of this system...
Unfortunately, there will be a time where this method will hit a big drawdown. It doesn't mean it will loose money overall because the winnings will eventually surpass the loss.
If you read Hans past forward test with this system you can see that there was a month where the system produce -30pips. At one moment in said month there was a drawdown of 800 pips but eventually the system even out somehow and lost only 30 pips at the end of the month.
Last month, he gained more then 1000+ pips!!!
To use this method IMHO you'll need a big account or trade minilots to be able to withstand those kind of drawdown.

But overall, it's a winning strategy.

I didn't remember reading that he has a -30pip for one month. Anyway I am doing foward testing right now. Overall the boadmembers are very happy with the results. However I will still do my own foward tests before going to my Real Money account.
I have been running this Ea for ahwile and found it interesting. It has not produced the results that I had hoped for. But I believe that is because it has problems with MT4- "ping errors" "tradecontextbusy" etc. Perhaps it is the EA, I don't know. Anyway the stategy seems solid. I wish I could trade it manually but I gotta sleep sometime.
I do think it would be much better in MT3 because it just seems so much more stable. A EA has been coded in MT3 at stategybuilder, but it is buggy. Anyone else got one for MT3?
I took this methodology from another person an coded it MQ4. It does not have lots of bells and whistles but seems to work on EUR/USD at M15 well. It's setup to only execute Buys and not Sells
Can anyone help explain why the Sell's are so poor relative to the buys? You can change whether it only buys, sells or does both by one of the User Defined variables.
