Lately several people tested a new EA Bogie-NN-v8 from William Boatright (wackena) that was showing nice forward test live results.
I then made some more research and I found this post Dswk post.
By the way thanks a lot to Dswk for this finding !
Then I was quite schoked that a new commercial EA was based on an indicator that was exactly the same than a freely available indicator created long before. (I refer to the original Forex_Nn here, even if the original one displayed 2 lines instead of 1, the second line is exactly the same as in Bogie)
And worse it was renamed and with a different copyright !
Then I investigated more and unfortunately without much surprise, I found that if you take the freely available EA Forex_Nn_Expert_v1.0 and put the same parameters than the ones recommended in Bogie then you get the same trades...
So there is one good news for everybody who planned to buy (or more exactly rent) this EA, you can have the same thing for free.
But there is also an extremly bad news for all MT4 programmers and system developers: once more we find a commercial system based on a freely available code, published without any respect of the copyright and work of other people.
I wanted that everybody knows in order to boycott the Bogie products to express their disagreement to such practices.

Yes, Bogie uses the same NN (and settings) as the available freebie, but having observed Bogie's 'visual' BT results, suggesting that they are identical is doing Bogie's creator a dis-service - the is some clever SAR trading and good MM also at play at the very least. Mr. Boatright could easily have included the NN code in the EA and no one would have been the wiser, but he chose not to! (my guess is because he decided the current 'buzz' regarding NN's would increase sales).
Personally I think it is over-rated anyway. The Euros prolonged rise has contributed greatly to it's apparent greatness. (imo) What really bugs me about it is that the demo at least will delete trades with different magics etc. that were opened by other EA's, without flinching - very bad position management imo...
be careful with this NN, the weights from the site is estimated to be from 2003... The problem is the NN software used to create the weights has an error and has not yet been fixed and so it is not possible as of yet to update the NN to a more recent market using the original software..
There have been atempts to use other NN structure/software to generate a more recent set of weights but the results have not been accurate.. One other thing bogie is doing is curve fitting the NN to the market by otimizing the buy/sell levels.. But this will only work good for the past, the market 99 times out of 100 will not be the same in the future.. You can optimize buy and sell levels of RSI to the past but not show profitable results for the future..
I paid for this EA...
The truth is that it gives very impresive returns, but i'll stop my subscription...

I am not an expert in NN, but how can we look for better or more updated weights?
if different results are not accurate maybe this weights are ok and there's no need to touch them?

Of course the Ea from Bogie can be slightly different, for instance I saw that there are are parameters to filter days out and also MM ican be different, but my point is that the indicator is strictly the same and the EA is based on the same principles. So it shouldn't be an issue to reproduce the exact same behaviour.
Omelette, maybe M Boatright has added few tricks inside the EA but I think he has mostly made a great dis-service to the whole community renaming copyrighted indicators with his own name. Of course he could have hidden that more but still the harm is done.
I agree that this EA has quite much benefited from the uptrend in EURUSD.
Note: for the ones that are sending me PM, I will be one holiday from today antil August 4th, so be patient for the replies
