What is happening to your demo's?...as long as you are using them they should not expire...do they only last for 30 days? is that the problem?
Please excuse the interupption...it is none of my business...but I was just wondering if Alleccoh Demo's expire? I have 17 tests going at IBFX and some of them last for 6 months...these are forward tests and they are more accurate than backtests...naturally live trading in a live real money account is the only true measure...but this is a step by step process...

@ES, yes, you are correct - with every other broker that is! I have one Aleccohfx account running 24/5 and this is the third time that I have got an 'invalid account' after restarting MT in the matter of a few weeks.
Last time I complained about it here Aleccoh had a perfectly 'reasonable' explanation for it - as he does for most issues that arise, either that or he's just dissmissive about complaints, like his above post!
@Aleccoh, I am perfectly aware that a demo account does not approximate a real account, and I realise that you are as broker are just 'starting out' so one should expect 'minor issues', but is it really too much to ask that 'small stuff' like this should be fixed - your dismissive, curt response would appear to suggest it is!!!
But while those massive spikes persist, I will continue to demo ('invalid account' permitting...) strategies on your unfiltered feed...
PS - Forgot to include - Aleccohfx accounts do not expire (in theory). I have had demo's running on WHC and NF for over a year, trouble-free.

My demo account has only become invalid once, when Aleccoh posted about it on here, I believe. The others have all been fine, and still are.
omelette, what you could do is open a hedged order on something - ie long and short equal amounts of EURUSD - then you'd have open positions that the demo would have to track, and therefore it wouldn't expire...

Hi. This has nothing to do with the accounts expiring due to inactivity - I have (had) up to 5 EA's actively trading these single demos each time, running 24/5. What has happened three times is that everything seems OK until Metatrader has to be restarted, when MT then tries to login the account is flagged as invalid. It is also nothing to do with the passwords getting corrupt as I have re-entered them from the 'Mailbox' alert.
WHC, NF IBFX all recieve similar treatment and have never once experienced this problem...
I would disagree with you on the fact that forward test on demo is more accurate then Backtest. If you want to accuratly be set concerning a technique or an EA, go live on a mini, trading microlots and DO NOT waste your time and bandwith on useless demo accounts and immediate fills.

I am not trying to be dismissive omelette, I instituted Demo accounts server on to test the feed and NOT for useless forward tests on Demo. I am not here to waste your time or mine beeing dismissive, i am here to help.
Unfiltered DATA is unfiltered on purpose eventhough i can put a smoothing server in between in the DEMO but i want you to feel the true ECN and how Big banks and brokers get filled. MT4 Is a Lousy platform i might add but it is a very popular one and it reminds me that PC's are crap compared to Apple Computers but they are popular.
My dream would be a Reliable platform like trade station or metastock profx and all this Mac implemented, BUT .............................

The US office Will be fully fonctional in mid 2008 i hope. We are in the process of regulating aleccohfx over there and surprisingly, it is taking us much less trouble then the Swiss regulations did.

Forward tests are more accurate the way that I do them compared to a demo backtest. I use a random method of testing that is private to me and it is more accurate.
I was under the impression that the Demo Server and the Live Server at Alleccoh had the same feed and quotes...
Aleccoh, please disregard most of my ramblings today - the markets haven't been kind to me and I guess I am just letting off steam
I still think there is a problem with the demos though
As far as backtesting being more accurate than forward testing on demo - well, I know from your people you do not backtest with Metatrader (which I fully agree is crap, and not just the backtester...) so some here might probably question that statement. From my experience with Metatrader, backtests do not mirror even forward testing on demo - wildly profitable EA's on backtest fall flat on their face when forward tested - so I have zero confidence in the Metatrader backtester.
