Great EA i will start testing it, is there settings for the EA or you still trying to find some ?
Regards
The EA has settings on it. I recommend that you put it on a demo account and test the settings out before going live. You may want to alther settings like initial stop loss, etc. The current demo that you can trade on a live account expires on 02/28 though. All demo's after that you will only be allowed to trade on a demo account. To trade live at that point you will have to buy the program or join Bernards service. The EA makes great entrys but the exit is up to the user. You can let Excalibur control all exits and you will make good money. If you have time to watch it, you can manually exit a trade and sould make better profits. You can just also modify the stop losses on the fly and the EA is designed to still control the positions. Any other questions I'm sure another member or Bernard will chime in.
Hello all,
First I want to thank Bernard for all the work he is putting into the ea.
I have followed the progress of the three ea's from the start, and have a few questions.I have not posted results in a while since I have been doing backtesting to see how different optimized parameters change the results. At first I used the defaults and did a six year backtest, and for some reason I did not get any change of lot sizes during the six year backtest. The lot sizes stayed at the same during the whole six years.I tried both with mm on and mm off.Unless I am doing something wrong?
Also what was frustrating is that during backtesting with different optimized settings the results would look great until I went to forward testing where they were completely different.I know forward testing is the only way to test an ea but I would hope that backtesting would be somewhat accurate.
Another question I have is are the features that are in the commercial release drastically different then the ones turned off on the demo version?
I quote:Finally finished the newest version with a lot of better features for even more control. Many features are disabled in the Demo version.
Are the features that are disabled in the Demo version enough to cause the results using the demo version different then if you were using the non-demo version? For example, could these disabled features cause results to be a loss where if they were on they would be a profit? If so, could it be possible to have a demo version with all the features of the non demo version? You could just make the non-demo version one that can not be traded on a live account?
I will start the new week with the latest demo version with defaults and see how it goes.
Have a great day!
Vince

I too found the same thing. Only the most recent version seemed to use MM.

I have always found back tests to be worthless unless you have tick data. At one point I didn't see what it mattered and that using 1m data was good enough. I was never able to achive the same results as a forward test.

I have been using the commercial version and it has been awhile since I used any demo. The extra features are enable in the demo version. You can not change them however. The commercial version lets you set all parameters of the EA (eg. lets you set stop loss, trailing stop, point at which trailing stop starts, breakeven point etc.) Its possible that it could cause a loss but more to the point, it would allow for quicker profit taking.
Hope that helps. I'm sure somebody else will chime in or even Bernard himself if you require further answers.
Thanks Edward and I agree forward testing is the only way to go, but backtesting I would think would help to see how the program works during a period of time. All that matters in the end is if you are getting good results on a live account.
I am just testing the demo for the new Eur/USD pair and will see how it goes.

First I have to ask if you have a proper back tester setup on your end. Directions and setup files are on the support forum.
Only things disabled in the demo are the ability to trial the opposite order and to trail the posted price. Was never beta tested and I personally have not had time to test these new feature so no need to open them up here in a demo.
MM should work.
Default settings have been duplicated over and over in back testing on a proper back test setup. Approximately 100 times with different beta testers so there must be some wrong setting on your end perhaps or again perhaps you have not yet set up a proper back testing 90% modeling system.
We must be on the right track as there are over 400 copies sold already and the program will not be available very much longer.
To Success
Bernard

Over 6000 thousand copies have been tested and tested. Default setting all in tack. Over 90% of the testers have made profits with some losses and still in profit after months of running the program on an account sme live others on demo accounts.
Enough members have already convinced themselves to the value of the system and have almost made the sale quota.
It is completely worthless to try to test the current currencies when you are trying to figure out something different than my 150 servers here have already tested for months using tens of tousands of trades and their input from all the beta testers.
If a member wants to do something positive, play with the settings on different currencies and not waste time on making the wheel that has already been made.

Hello Bernard,
I am happy and know the program is a good one.I will check support forum.
The information on how to do the backtesting, I obtained from another forum that used Open prices only vs every tick.
Thanks again for all the hard work!
Vince
I think it is important to understand why I have not dedicated a lot of time to the other currencies as of yet.
With a stop loss of say 50 pips and an account of only $ 3,000.00 and perhaps ten currencies loaded into Excalibur lets look at a worst case situation.
10 currencies fire a trade and all ten go into a 40 pips loss and hold for awhile. We have a 400 pip draw down before we even start out the day.
Another currency fires a trade and we go down another 20 pips and so on and so on.
Many inexperienced traders have the idea that the more currencies they are trading the more they will make. What they fail to look a is that the more currencies you trade the more risk you take as well.
Personally I have Excalibur V3.5 running on every currency available, live and have more than enough funds in my accounts to cover almost any draw down for some time and not worry about a margin call.
We are not all in that position.
As such it is irresponsible for me or any programmer to release an EA like Excalibur and allow it to trade on all currencies to any trader that does not fully understand the horror of the Margin Call and the empty feeling a trader gets when it happens.
Excalibur is designed to keep an account alive.
To trade , make profits, and manage losses that will happen, then recover and do so very well. Trading without any management behind it is a guarantee of losing ones account, so it will be a long time before I release any other currencies that Excalibur V3.5 will trade other than, to a registered client, that has fully understood and talked to me on the phone, about how to properly trade against more than what we currently have available.
Excalibur could stand alone trading only one currency, as many do. I have released the three currencies presently as I am secure in the knowledge that traded properly the three currencies will never kill an account.
To Success
Bernard
PS: Did I mention that Merlin took in over 1,400 pips in 8 days.

This is a wonderful ea. I am very impressed with it and I want to thank the creator for allowing me to test the commercial version. Here are my results using default settings.
Regards,
Jeff
Hi there, I am also using alpari (us). could you please post your settings for Excalibur 3.5?
