PlaySound Not Working

Any code that I load that has a PlaySound function does not give an audible tone when the condition is met in the code to invoke PlaySound. I think it might have something to do with the fact that I can't even find the terminal_dir\sounds directory in my system. Could someone tell me how I get PlaySound to work? Thanks.
