I cannot express any opinion on that knack for discovery. Although we all have that will for the new, the credits, the adimiration or even the selfless giving away, it is just hard to accept one doing what might be the end of his uniqueness: pratically telling the world how to be as wealthy as he! That apply to teachers and books as well: why bother writing or teaching if you already have your way with trades? Well, just discussing...

Hmmm .... the old line in my day used to be: "Those that know, don't tell. Those that don't know, teach." I've found that to be unkind and mostly untrue. As a young man just starting out, I was surprised how many of the old guys would walk over after the dust settled and have a little chat with me about the really dumb moves I made. And more importantly, how to keep from doing that again.
Still, people are strange. Years ago, a friend and I developed a mechanical system for trading Beans. It did pretty well. A few others noticed our sudden success and asked what we were doing. We decided to make them buy the beer and share it with them. We were pretty pleased with ourselves. More so when they began to make some good trades each day. It didn't last. Within a couple weeks, each one of the guys we taught had "enhanced" the little system and began to loose money in Beans again. Next rumor we heard was that we had given them a bogus little system that had cost them money. So, the next time we found something that helped us trade better, we kept it to ourselves.
Other extreme? I have a good friend in Europe who loves to spend his time building good little trading programs. I think he likes that more than trading itself. What does he do with them? Sends them to anyone that shows interest. Good guy. He could go commercial, I believe. Don't think it will happen.
To stay within the thread, avoiding Scams and Rip-Offs includes keeping expectations within reason. If someone says that their EA will turn your $500 mini account into $1.6 Million in 14 months, doesn't that really cause you to pause? It could be true, I suppose. But, wouldn't you need some really strong proof before you bought into that program? And, taking that to one more level, if you bought the program without strong verification, who's fault is it really if the thing ends up being pure junk on your hard drive?
Trading isn't easy. It requires some study, focus, work, and more than a little dedication. It seems to me that EA's have quite a good future in trading. It wasn't that many years ago that high trading technology was a Texas Instruments pocket calc.

No, I haven't EA'ed it yet. I'll drop you a line and tell you about it.
